Thank you all for praying for Maui! GOD IS ANSWERING PRAYER!
On Monday, August 21, Pastor Allen Cardines and I went to Maui to do some exploratory work on what God was leading us to do for the people of Lahaina after that devastating fire. We knew that the Lord was leading us but we had no idea who we were going to meet or what we were going to do. Nonetheless, God led us all the way to His “man of peace” a’ la Luke 10. He is Peter Hett and he is the leader of the Neighborhood Security Watch of the Hawaiian Homestead land in Lahaina that was in the midst of the fire (The Villages of Leiali’I 1A). There was a connection with Peter, and especially with Allen!
Peter shared that many of their immediate needs are being met as far as food, clothing, and shelter. We could come up with our own ideas but what are the needs that they are expressing? It took a while for Peter to let us know what they needed. We did local style evangelism, we blessed Peter and simply “talked story” but moreso, we just listened. As we did, Peter slowly opened up and honestly shared.
“What we could use,” Peter said, “are solar powered security lights and, most of all . . . AIR PURIFIERS. We do not have healthy air quality because the dust and grounds from the fires are poisonous.”
The grounds have the remnants of asbestos, plastics, and lead plus so much more. A fire fighter told me that they are expecting all of the “cadaver dogs” to die of cancer because they are constantly inhaling the dust.
The Lord clearly showed us to make our initial goal the purchasing of air purifiers for the Leiali’i 1A Homestead. We had already received $9,000 and as soon as we got home, we began the process of purchasing at least 12 air purifiers as a start. When Pastor Allen shared this with Peter Hett, he was blown away! Peter would like to give the air purifiers starting with the most needy homes of those struggling with respiratory issues, the Kupuna (elderly) and those with children.
THEREFORE, I AM PROPOSING THAT WE WOULD INITIALLY RAISE AT LEAST $63K SO THAT WE COULD PURCHASE AND GIVE 102 AIR PURIFIERS SO THAT EVERY HOME WOULD HAVE ONE IN THE LEIALI’I 1A HOMESTEAD IN LAHAINA, MAUI.
I truly believe that God is calling us in this endeavor. Would you join us?

Please remember that the devastation of Lahaina is hard to fathom. As a result, there will be more needs that we will share in the future, e.g. solar powered security lights. Our goals are always moving because the needs are always changing. My personal desire is that we would initially raise $100K to help out with the needs of all our brothers and sisters in Lahaina.
Lastly, PRAY FOR MAUI! God is truly hearing and answering your prayers. Please do not stop. PRAYER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT WE CAN ALL DO.
